We welcome everyone to watch the recordings of the lightning talks from the Nextcloud Community Conference 2026! About this lightning talk: Speaker: Steve Krämer Title: Where is my Laptop? Building an IT Asset Management Plugin for Nextcloud. Description provided by the author: Whether you manage IT for a company, your clients, or just your family — keeping track of what is running where can quickly become a mess. This lightning talk about the IT Asset Management plugin I am building for Nextcloud covers: • What it means to be accountable for the hardware and software of an entire organization, • Why the right tooling matters for that responsibility • Why Nextcloud turned out to be the right foundation for those concerns What are lightning talks? Lightning talks are quick presentations from the Nextcloud community about contributing, developing Nextcloud apps, privacy and data sovereignty, and more. We have recorded the lightning talks during the event so everyone who couldn’t make it to the event can watch these inspiring sessions. ⚠️ Note: this is a live recording of a session from an in-person event. Audio and video quality may differ from our studio content. More about the event: https://nextcloud.com/conference-2026/

A piece I felt was missing was a tool to semi automatically inventory the devices of individual members of a nextcloud site. That would be super interesting to me.

So far, to benefit from this tool the IT manager still has to do alot of heavy lifting to collect and organize the data, even if it has been made alot easier.
