About this lightning talk: Speaker: Christian Wolf Title: AI and Sustainability — an impossible combination? Description provided by the author: Running AI models (inference of them) draws quite some power especially for beefy hardware. On low-end servers running private or non-profit instances of Nextcloud, adding a few dozen watts of power 24/7 is somewhat questionable from a sustainability perspective. By distributing the tasks, one can not only avoid the unneeded power but better scale the overall system and have the critical hardware active only when needed. What are lightning talks? Lightning talks are quick presentations from the Nextcloud community about contributing, developing Nextcloud apps, privacy and data sovereignty, and more. We have recorded the lightning talks during the event so everyone who couldn’t make it to the event can watch these inspiring sessions. ⚠️ Note: this is a live recording of a session from an in-person event.
